This past Monday we hosted an Open House/Free Workshop Presentation for people interested in Rainmaker U. It was held at the Pacific Club in Newport, California. Forty people confirmed. Ten showed up.
Here's where personal branding comes in. Of the 30 no shows who we had planned to have attend and for whom we reserved space and ordered food only one had the courtesy to call beforehand and apologize for not being able to attend.
Gang, the money's not the issue. Thank God we've been blessed enough to have been able to build a business which can absorb the waste. As a personal branding expert what shocks me is people's lack of self-awareness of their lack of professionalism. Pros don't make commitments and then not show up.
I guarantee you that if we are unprofessional in one area of our business that lack of professionalism follows us around in other areas.
Here's one great lesson I learned from the meeting. Four people from one company had confirmed they would attend including the CEO. Only one showed. Guess who?....I guess that is why he is the CEO.
